About the Competition

The 2026 RoboRacer PNU-HYUNSONG CHAMPIONSHIP is an official RoboRacer Korea championship series event. RoboRacer Autonomous Racing is a competition organized by an international community of researchers, engineers, and autonomous systems enthusiasts. Teams participating in this championship will build a 1:10 scaled autonomous race car according to given specifications and write software for it to fulfill the competition objectives: Don't crash and minimize laptime.

The competition features an in-person racing event with physical cars. Each team brings their own RoboRacer car and develops the software for autonomous driving. Teams have access to detailed build manuals and can use open-source software to get started. The organizers provide the race setup, track infrastructure, and organize the competition itself.

The competition consists of two main phases: Qualification and Knockout Racing. In the qualification session, teams compete in a time trial to demonstrate their ability to complete laps without colliding with track boundaries. Teams that qualify then compete in head-to-head knockout racing, where autonomous driving algorithms battle in intense matches. Since vehicles and hardware are standardized, teams must develop robust perception, planning, and control algorithms that can handle the uncertainties of a new track and new competitors.

[General Notice] RoboRacer Competition Operation Guide

We would like to inform all participating teams. For fair competition and technology sharing, some vehicle class rules have been changed, and technical summary submission and mandatory presentation for outstanding teams are being implemented for all teams.

1) Vehicle Class Rule Changes

  • Starting from this competition, vehicle class (2.1) regulations have been strengthened/changed.
  • Please be sure to check the competition rules page (Vehicle Class Regulations) for detailed changes (e.g., chassis/body modification restrictions, computing unit limitations, one-design motor application, etc.).
  • All vehicles will be inspected for compliance during qualification/competition operation, and participation may be restricted if not compliant.

2) Technical Summary Submission (Mandatory for All Teams)

To enhance the educational and research value of the competition and share excellent cases, all teams must submit technical summary slides.

  • Target: All participating teams
  • Submission Deadline: By the deadline specified by the competition
  • Format: PDF or PPTX
  • Length: Within 10 pages
  • Language: Korean or English (as per competition announcement)

Required Content (Minimum)

  1. Team/Vehicle Overview (Team name, vehicle version, sensor configuration)
  2. Driving Algorithm Core Summary (Driving strategy, 1 page recommended)
  3. System Architecture (Overall architecture + core packages/nodes)
  4. Interface/Operation Logic (Key I/O, topics/periods, Pit/Mission response if applicable)
  5. Safety and Verification (Fail-safe/exception handling + verification methods/result summary)

3) Technical Presentation by Outstanding Evaluation Teams (Before Awards Ceremony, Mandatory)

  • Presentation Timing: Qualification technical sessions are not operated. Presentations will be conducted in an official session from after provisional ranking calculation (including result verification) until before the awards ceremony begins. (Detailed schedule will be announced on the day)
  • Presentation Target: Outstanding Evaluation Teams selected regardless of final ranking
  • Number of Selected Teams: As announced by organizers (recommended: 3-8 teams)
  • Evaluation Criteria (Examples): Performance (lap time/completion rate/penalties), Technical Quality (modularization/real-time/Pit response), Safety, Reproducibility/Explanatory Power, Innovation
    ※ Final criteria and selection method will be confirmed in a separate announcement
  • Presentation Materials/Time: Based on submitted materials within 10 pages (modifications allowed), within 10 minutes per team (whether Q&A is included will be announced)

4) Measures for Non-compliance

If a team refuses to present or performs inadequately without justifiable reason, the organizers may apply some of the following measures.

  • Cancellation of outstanding evaluation selection (exclusion from presentation targets)
  • Exclusion from special awards/category awards candidates
  • Exclusion from official competition records/promotional materials
  • Other sanctions determined by organizers

대회 소개

2026 RoboRacer PNU-HYUNSONG CHAMPIONSHIP은 RoboRacer Korea 공식 챔피언십 시리즈 대회입니다. RoboRacer 자율주행 레이싱은 연구자, 엔지니어, 자율시스템 애호가들의 국제 커뮤니티가 조직하는 경쟁 대회입니다. 이 챔피언십에 참가하는 팀들은 주어진 사양에 따라 1:10 스케일 자율주행 레이싱카를 제작하고, 대회 목표를 달성하기 위한 소프트웨어를 작성합니다: 충돌하지 않고 랩타임을 최소화하는 것입니다.

이 대회는 실제 차량을 사용하는 대면 레이싱 이벤트입니다. 각 팀은 자신의 RoboRacer 차량을 가져오고 자율주행을 위한 소프트웨어를 개발합니다. 팀들은 상세한 제작 매뉴얼에 접근할 수 있으며 오픈소스 소프트웨어를 사용하여 시작할 수 있습니다. 주최 측은 레이스 설정, 트랙 인프라를 제공하고 대회 자체를 조직합니다.

참가팀 여러분께 안내드립니다. 이번 대회는 공정한 경쟁과 기술 공유를 위해 차량 클래스 룰 일부가 변경되었으며, 모든 팀을 대상으로 기술 요약 자료 제출 및 우수팀 발표 의무를 운영합니다.

1) 차량 클래스 룰 변경 안내

  • 이번 대회부터 차량 클래스(2.1) 관련 규정이 강화/변경되었습니다.
  • 세부 변경 사항(예: 섀시/바디 개조 제한, 컴퓨팅 유닛 제한, 규격 모터 적용 등)은 대회 룰 페이지(차량 클래스 규정)를 반드시 확인해 주시기 바랍니다.
  • 모든 차량은 예선/대회 운영 과정에서 규정 준수 여부를 점검하며, 미준수 시 참가 제한이 있을 수 있습니다.

2) 기술 요약 자료 제출 (전 팀 의무)

대회의 교육·연구적 가치 강화와 우수 사례 공유를 위해, 모든 팀은 기술 요약 슬라이드를 제출해야 합니다.

  • 대상: 모든 참가팀
  • 제출 기한: 대회에서 지정한 마감 시각까지
  • 형식: PDF 또는 PPTX
  • 분량: 10페이지 이내
  • 언어: 한국어 또는 영어(대회 공지 기준)

필수 포함 내용(최소)

  1. 팀/차량 개요(팀명, 차량 버전, 센서 구성)
  2. 주행 알고리즘 핵심 요약(주행 전략, 1장 권장)
  3. 시스템 구성(전체 아키텍처 + 핵심 패키지/노드)
  4. 인터페이스/동작 로직(주요 I/O, 토픽/주기, Pit/미션 대응 해당 시)
  5. 안전 및 검증(Fail-safe/예외 처리 + 검증 방법/결과 요약)

3) 우수 평가 팀 기술 발표 (시상식 전, 의무)

  • 발표 시점: 예선 기술세션은 운영하지 않으며, 순위가 잠정 산출된 이후(결과 검증 포함) ~ 시상식 시작 전 공식 세션에서 진행합니다. (세부 일정은 당일 공지)
  • 발표 대상: 최종 순위와 무관하게 선정된 우수 평가 팀
  • 선정 팀 수: 주최 측 공지(권장 3~8팀)
  • 평가 기준(예시): 성능(랩타임/완주율/페널티), 기술성(모듈화/실시간성/Pit 대응), 안전성, 재현성/설명력, 혁신성
    ※ 최종 기준 및 선정 방식은 별도 공지로 확정
  • 발표 자료/시간: 제출한 10페이지 이내 자료 기반(수정 가능), 팀당 10분 이내(Q&A 포함 여부는 공지)

4) 불이행 시 조치

정당한 사유 없이 발표를 거부하거나 불성실하게 이행할 경우, 주최 측은 다음 조치 중 일부를 적용할 수 있습니다.

  • 우수 평가 선정 취소(발표 대상 제외)
  • 특별상/부문상 후보 제외
  • 대회 공식 기록/홍보 자료 제외
  • 기타 주최 측이 정한 제재
